We recently attended a gathering/festival which usually is a ton of fun, very relaxing in general, and otherwise a wonderful break from the monotony of mundane life. The Sandy Hollow folks throw a bash, entirely volunteer driven, with evening bands, drum circle at midnight, and Global Chillin. This year, we brought our friend Varulv.
There were some fun new things such as beautiful hand-painted signs for all the roads (We camped at the corner of Easy St and Shakedown Ln) . This was a nice touch and showed some good planning went into the pre-event days. Other minor things I can’t really pin down but seemed nicer were things like a nice new porta-john behind the stage with water to wash hands, and little things like that.
The strange thing was, this year’s festival had quite a different energy to it than what we usually came to expect. We often help out in the kitchen, as our way of donating, and this year due to kid & friend status, we decided to skip the hours of cooking and just hang out enjoying the day. Apparently, everyone else did too.
In place of our time, we brought a big storage Tote of garden spuds (potatoes), four jars of pickles, and 6 jars of tomato sauce, plus some random snacky cracker things. All yummy garden-fresh (except the crackers), and suitable for the mostly vegan preferences there.

Maebius lurks on various blogs about world of Warcraft, and obsesses over the limited free time he can be in-game earning phat lewtz. (More accurately, I wander around in areas I do not earn Experience, to enjoy seeing the places I never visited, but can survive much easier now…solo Scarlet Monestary FTW!)
One such blog linked a set of music they listen to while raiding. I commented that is was similar to Great Big Sea, a wonderful group that gets my blood pumping and my smiles lifting the taudry corners of the mouth even on the worst of workdays.
This inspired me to find all sorts of sources of good music to listen to at work. for your clicking pleasure, here is a fairly randomized list, as they hit my Bookmarks over the past week or two…
(Random side-note, I had this song in my head for the majority of this morning, not entirely sure why it popped in, or stuck so firmly..maybe the season of the year?)
