Maebius Musing

Update: Well, I had a nice big post typed up, broken into sections outlining our activities for each of the three days, and when I published it, what appeared on-screen was similar to what you would see if opening a complex photoshop image in Notepad. Absolute and utter ASCII crap….

So, since work is not being as free-time friendly as I’d like, I will have to re-post something in the next few days. Probably this weekend, as with all the travel lately, our evenings are spent just sitting and playing at home with the kid and getting back into some semblance of routine.

For all [three?] people who read this blog, I’ll post images and such as soon as possible. Otherwise, if you have digitalized images from the Convention, feel free to use my visage as you deem appropriate (or even as inappropriate, your call. *grin* )

I’ve been mulling over Life the Universe, and Everything lately, and how Maebius fits into the scheme of things. Call it taking a quick glance into the Total Perspective Vortex (With all due respect to Douglas Adams for such phrases and concepts)…..

…and I’ve decided to transition this Blog slightly to house an online repository of more personal journal-type musings. I’ll be testing some password-protected entries, and fiddling with the permissions for comments and such. Hopefully nothing blog-breaking, but if you notice some strange little things acting differently, just let me know.

Additionally, I added some categories to the Blog which match up with the AODA spirals and paths. I figure a good way to keep my focus on my chosen studies is to make some blog posts on those topics, and having the categories right there at my fingertips should help with that focus.

Also, starting next week, I will try (TRY) to setup a regular posting schedule of Druidic or other Pagani (my term, taken from Romani Gypsy to describe my ecclectic amalgam of paradigms, no insult to actual Romani culture intended) thoughts. These will be timed as Moon-phase posts. Full moons will hopefully be for fun things and more spirited discussions for the readers to discuss. New Moons will be more for introspections which I want to archive for later perusal (and you readers to discuss as well).

The timing of this will coincide with a Full moon next week, Halloween/Samhain the week after, and my birthday just beyond that the first few days in November. I figure it’s a good time for change and reflection, starting a bit fresh, and shifting gears for winter. See you there!

Joan Osbourne has a song called “If God was one of us”, and in it are the following lyrics:

If God had a face what would it look like
And would you want to see
If seeing meant that you would have to believe
In things like heaven and in jesus and the saints and all the prophets

which was my meditation topic for today. Would we REALLY want to know the face of God? (of course, this whole topic presupposes an Immanent Divinity, which is a whole ‘nother topic for later this month! I don’t necessarily agree 100% with the connotations implied here, but we’ll run with it for sake of a good musing…)

Would most people, given an honest and true choice, want to meet up with the Divine? Not just as a brief glimpse of transcendence or Awe, but to really see/feel/hear an answer to our prayers?

I believe that although millions of people say they believe in a God (judeo-christian or otherwise), there are very few who actually do grasp that belief with complete conviction.

A true Belief would demand an alarmingly different lifestyle (depending on the nature of your Gods, of course), but very few people really truly integrate their Divinity.

They say they believe in order to get the surface benefits of religion. They are thus able to forge a community of peers and like-minded allies in this crazy world we live in. They pray a certain way, they read the appropriate manuscripts, but I am convinced most people do not totally and unabashedly GROK their gods.

Myself included I think. For while to paraphrase a bit from a book:

If you believe a truck is coming toward you, you will jump out of the way. That is belief in the reality of the oncoming truck. If you tell people you fear trucks, but do nothing to get out of the way, that is not belief in the truck…when belief does not control your most important decisions it is not belief in the underlying reality, it is belief in the usefulness of believing…

The best any human can do is pick a delusion that helps him get through the day…At some level, we all suspect other people don’t believe their own religion any more than we believe ours.

Again, while I do not completely agree with this premise, there is a grain of truthiness in there somewhere. I know if I really, REALLY sit down and stare at the mirror of my own spirituality, that those times where I got a good solid glimpse of Higher Mysteries, it has scared me more than I’d admit in public. So, while I could continue this topic ad-infinitum for the afternoon, I’ll leave it here for further musings. What are your initial reactions and thought on reading this presumption posting? And if those reactions are on the “energetic emotion” side of things, why is that?!

Just a short post, since the long spiritually-focussed one is taking a LOT longer than I wanted it to. I started it two days ago, but is titled “I Remember…”, and should be online tomorrow…
Remembering all sorts of things, like my late grandfather, makes it tough to write about at work, since it dredged up some misty-eyed feelings I thought had passed years ago.

For today, Happy Halloween!!

At work, I am wearing my Tai-Chi outfit and Renaissance Shoes, plus a big rice-paddy hat.

Accenting the basic black is a lovely golden cord wrapped thrice-ly around my waist, and a grey shoulder-bag formerly known as the “loot-sack” from FaerieCon.

Plus I have a box of straight-pins for accupuncturing keyboards while fixing things throughout the office! Fun!!

It’s simple, functional for at work, and fun..

And tonight, as darkness falls, it is the annual candy-haul. My little one’s Raphael the TMNT. I’ll go in a modified tai-chi outfit with a mask as a Foote Ninja. *grin*
