Happy New Year 2008

Posted by maebius on 02 Jan 2008 | Tagged as: testing, Druidic, Festivals

Another year gone, another year in full wintery swing! Welcome to 2008.
(or, as I shall deem worthy of calling it: 2 A.D.- After Druidry)

Most people take the opportunity this time of year to look back and reflect on what has happened in the past few months, and resolve to do things a little differently these next few months. However, the older I get, the easier it is to fall into the same old routines and then look back NEXT new year with at least a faint guilt about not doing somesuch thing. This year, my resolution is similar to my usual “Lenten Sacrifices”, which essentially means I don’t really give up anything except the attempt to give up.

This past year, many wonderful things have happened. If you are remotely interested in them, there’s a wonderful archive of this blog for you to research. *grin* I’ll wait……

Welcome back! :)

In the coming months, I resolve to try to make a few minor changes in my life that help out either my health (both physical, mental, and spiritual), or improve the health of those around me (again, mind/body/spirit). I won’t make a specific list of goals, for a number of reasons. Firstly, I’m a terrible organizer, and would forget them very shortly as Life distracts me pretty well from day to day. This would lead to guilt or stress if I did not “Do item X on my list”. (related post: here). Secondly, while I appreciate the focusing power of lists in order to help organize things, I am honest with myself enough to realize that I will think of different and perhaps ‘better’ things to do that trump or cancel out something I would add to a list. So, I’m going to work towards General improvements throughout the year.

However, rather than being completely vague and relying on a creative muse to inspire me to better my life as the whims of fancy blow chaotically through the coming weeks, I will resolve to be at least Mindful on one change every two weeks. A careful notice of moon phases will help remind me of such things, as I do want to continue my Moon Muse postings as well, so that you, my Humble Readers, have at least a semi-weekly blog to look forward to. (I do hereby grant myself a license to delay any posting which would coincide with holidays, camping vacations, and the like)

And so, with a new day planner to use at work which I now have marked up with important dates and pagan-friendly events, I will begin pondering more musings, will work on some minor changes to update you on each week if possible (even if only a single paragraph post), and work towards a Happy Maebius.

Kennit?
(By new favorite ‘word’ which is used by a new hire here at work, whom I could sit and listen to talk on the phone for hours!)

Music circle - linkorama

Maebius lurks on various blogs about world of Warcraft, and obsesses over the limited free time he can be in-game earning phat lewtz. (More accurately, I wander around in areas I do not earn Experience, to enjoy seeing the places I never visited, but can survive much easier now…solo Scarlet Monestary FTW!)

One such blog linked a set of music they listen to while raiding. I commented that is was similar to Great Big Sea, a wonderful group that gets my blood pumping and my smiles lifting the taudry corners of the mouth even on the worst of workdays.

This inspired me to find all sorts of sources of good music to listen to at work. for your clicking pleasure, here is a fairly randomized list, as they hit my Bookmarks over the past week or two…

(Random side-note, I had this song in my head for the majority of this morning, not entirely sure why it popped in, or stuck so firmly..maybe the season of the year?)

Idleness of the Blog

Posted by maebius on 07 Sep 2007 | Tagged as: testing

Sorry to all of you folks visiting my Blog, which has been rather quiet lately.

I’ve been busy. From vacation trips to various Pennsylvania locations, to intensive World of Warcraft evenings (gamecard runs out in a month, I WILL make it it level 58 before that happens!), to finally getting around to finishing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, to late summer gardening and yard-chores. Not much time to blog. Plenty to muse about I suppose, but best for private journals and this blog took a back-seat.

So, sorry again folks. Things should get a bit more active shortly.

PS: How sad is it when a “children’s book” gets you so involved with the characters that when folks put a pair of socks on a former ’slave’ you just can’t help but get Seriously misty-eyed? But a discussion of that book is for another blog post very soon. :)

Wierdness in Wordpress

Sorry for lack of updates, but Wordpress is acting strange. It cut off over half of my Caffeine posting, and such, so I attempted to re-install it from and old archive… Seems to be working now assuming you can read this post.

I’ll add more musing-type posts later next week. Spring is here, and evenings at home are busy with garden-preparation stuff and barn fixing-upping. :)

Well, it is springtime, and once again our thoughts turn to seeds tenatively sending forth mysterious appendages that rip apart the carbonated air itself and harness the energy of nuclear fusion for their own ends. (*insert evil laughter here*)
It is also the time when animals spawn, birth, and hatch out of their respective embryonic states and begin a new life on this material plane. And with that in mind, I bring you the following short movie clip of our bathtub at approximately 7:30am on 04/03/07.

Also, on a not-really-related note, I have discovered an arcane manuscript written in a language incomprehensable to mortal man. In it’s dusty and ink-stained pages, I have learned a powerful secret, usually reserved for the likes of Gods….the secret of Life. Continue Reading »
